Global law firm Hogan Lovells Cadwalader announced the addition of Jakarri Hamlin as a Banking & Loan Finance partner in the Los Angeles office. Hamlin joins the firm from Mayer Brown.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jakarri Hamlin to Hogan Lovells Cadwalader,” said Wes Misson, Global Managing Partner – Finance. “He’s a versatile lawyer with an exceptional track record of success in NAV and back leverage facilities. Our clients and colleagues alike will benefit from his blend of experience in fund finance, structured finance and derivatives. It’s great to have Jakarri back in the fold.”
Hamlin, previously part of Cadwalader at the outset of his career in the financial services practice, advises financial institutions and asset managers across asset classes on financings including NAV, hybrid and subscription facilities, structured and asset‑backed financings, holdco loans, mezzanine loans, margin loans, and other forms of back leverage. His background also includes extensive work on ISDA documentation, prime brokerage agreements, repurchase agreements, and other trading arrangements. He began his professional path in structured finance and derivatives before transitioning into fund finance.
Recognized as a 2026 “Banking & Finance Visionary” by Business by LA Times Studios, Hamlin is part of the continued expansion of the transactional practice in the Los Angeles office. Mike Maddigan, Office Managing Partner for Los Angeles, stated: “Jakarri’s arrival, which comes shortly after welcoming fellow Banking & Loan Finance partner Bob Hayes this summer, reflects our commitment to providing clients based in or doing business on the West Coast – and around the globe – with the best possible talent to achieve their business goals.”
“I’m excited to rejoin my old colleagues as part of a new, one-of-a-kind global law firm,” said Hamlin. “Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is laser-focused on being the preeminent firm for finance, including the rapidly growing fund finance sector in California. I’m looking forward to being part of this platform and community.”
Hamlin holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. from Colgate University.
Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is a leading global law firm formed on July 1, 2026, through the merger of international heavyweight Hogan Lovells and Wall Street’s oldest firm, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.
