Dias Carneiro Advogados Announces New Counsels: Fernando Becker Mau and Cíntia Rosa

Dias Carneiro Advogados announces the arrival of Fernando Becker Mau to its Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) practice and Cíntia Rosa to its Compliance and Corporate Investigations practice as new counsels. The firm’s objective is to expand its support for corporate and financial transactions while enhancing its capabilities in compliance, regulatory enforcement, and economic sanctions advisory.

With more than 14 years of experience, Fernando advises domestic and international clients, including financial institutions, publicly traded companies, multinational corporations, and sponsors, on complex corporate, M&A, and financing matters. His practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, corporate reorganizations, investments, local and international financings, bilateral and syndicated credit transactions, acquisition financing, structured finance transactions, and debt issuances in the Brazilian and international capital markets.

Bringing significant international experience, Becker earned an LL.M. from the New York University School of Law and worked in New York as an international associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in the Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions practice. He also holds a specialization in Corporate Structures and Transactions from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and a law degree from Mackenzie Presbyterian University.

According to Becker Mau, the goal is to leverage his expertise to generate even stronger results in the practice area. “I see great synergy between my practice and the firm’s work, and I am excited about the opportunity to work alongside a team of excellence,” he says.

For Artur Fernandes Andrezo, partner in Dias Carneiro Advogados’ Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions practice, Becker Mau’s appointment as counsel reinforces the strategic importance of the firm’s M&A practice and its commitment to continuously investing in team growth and development. “His extensive experience in corporate and financial transactions, combined with his cross-border practice, complements our team’s capabilities and strengthens our ability to advise clients in increasingly complex and sophisticated transactions.”

Cíntia Rosa assumes the position of counsel in recognition of her work at the firm implementing and enhancing compliance and investigations programs, collaborating with authorities in Brazil and the United States, and advising on corruption, cartel, and fraud matters.

Prior to joining Dias Carneiro Advogados, she spent nearly eight years at international law firm Hogan Lovells, where she participated in highly complex multi-jurisdictional investigations and enforcement matters involving multinational companies and various authorities, including the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Throughout her career, Cíntia has increasingly focused on technology and digital markets, particularly in light of the regulatory and governance challenges arising from evolving business models and intensive data usage. During a secondment with Meta’s Compliance team in California, she gained direct exposure to these challenges within a global technology company, further deepening her expertise in antitrust compliance and governance in digital markets.

Her experience also includes economic sanctions and export controls, including enforcement matters before U.S. authorities, risk assessments and risk matrices, as well as the design and evaluation of controls and monitoring mechanisms aimed at identifying and mitigating exposure.

According to Joyce Ruiz Rodrigues Alves, partner and head of Dias Carneiro’s Competition and Administrative Law practices, Cíntia’s contribution to the firm’s projects has been essential. “Cíntia’s promotion to counsel reflects her technical excellence and significant contributions to internal investigations and compliance structuring projects carried out alongside our clients. Her expertise in technology, artificial intelligence, and international investigations strengthens our ability to deliver tailored and highly technical solutions for increasingly complex legal challenges.”

Commenting on her new role, Cíntia Rosa added: “This is a very important step that requires skills beyond technical excellence alone. It is a privilege to build this career path alongside professionals who support me so strongly, such as Joyce, from whom I have learned to combine technical rigor with analytical insight in every matter.”

Cíntia holds an MBA in Data Science and Analytics and has experience in data analytics, forensic analysis, and legal technology solutions, competencies she applies across her practice. Her technical background enables her to integrate technology and data into risk analysis, investigations, and the development and assessment of compliance and governance mechanisms.

“In the age of artificial intelligence, the future of compliance depends on a multidisciplinary perspective capable of integrating law, technology, and governance to identify risks and develop safer and more effective responses for our clients,” says Cíntia.

According to Antonio Amendola, Managing Partner of Dias Carneiro and coordinating partner of the firm’s Tax and Customs practices, the promotions and addition of new counsels are part of the firm’s ongoing consolidation strategy. “We are proud to promote another outstanding lawyer to a leadership position within our firm, recognizing our internal talent while also bringing in a highly respected market expert.”
