Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has announced that Mike Niekoop has joined the firm as a partner in its Amsterdam Banking & Finance practice, focusing on digital infrastructure and broader project and infrastructure finance.
Mike joins from Clifford Chance with more than 15 years’ experience advising developers, operators, sponsors, lenders and investors on complex domestic and cross-border project and infrastructure financings. He has spent over a decade advising on data-centre transactions.
Mike advises across project finance, infrastructure finance, real estate-backed finance, portfolio and platform financings, borrowing-base structures and hybrid financing solutions. He has led landmark data-centre transactions across Europe, APAC and the Middle East. His knowledge also extends to hyperscalers and other offtake arrangements, SNDA, data-centre M&A, ABS and AI/GPU infrastructure financing.
A significant proportion of Mike’s practice is international and multi-jurisdictional, involving close collaboration with teams across global offices and disciplines.
Alongside digital infrastructure, Mike has a strong track record in renewable energy, the broader energy transition and traditional infrastructure. His experience includes offshore and onshore wind, solar, battery storage, sustainable heat and a wide range of other energy-transition and infrastructure projects.
Mike’s appointment continues the firm’s investment in its international projects, energy and infrastructure platform, following the recent additions of projects partner Fredrik Lindblom and energy and natural resources partner Remy Lerner.
