Santos Bevilaqua Advogados has announced the appointment of Alexandre Otávio de Araújo Lima, who joins the team led by partner Keila Manangão. His arrival further strengthens the firm’s strategic practice, particularly in litigation, arbitration and advisory matters involving insurance and reinsurance.
With nearly three decades of professional experience, Alexandre has built his career at leading Brazilian law firms, advising clients on civil litigation, major insurance losses, aviation accidents and incidents, coverage analysis, liability matters and disputes involving significant financial and reputational exposure. Throughout his career, he has represented insurers, domestic and international reinsurers, aircraft maintenance companies, airport operators and airlines in complex, high-profile and multidisciplinary matters.
His practice encompasses litigation strategy, judicial and arbitral proceedings, the negotiation of judicial and out-of-court settlements, claims management in Brazil, and the preparation of legal opinions on insurance coverage, with a strong focus on risk mitigation and reducing clients’ exposure in strategically significant matters.
Alexandre holds an LL.B. from the National Law School of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He also holds postgraduate qualifications in Civil Law and Civil Procedure from Faculdade Ritter dos Reis, a specialization in Aviation Law from the Brazilian Society of Aeronautical Law (SBDA), and an MBA in Insurance and Reinsurance Management from the National Insurance School.

I have also participated in the adjustment of some of Brazil’s largest aviation losses, an experience that provided me with valuable practical insight into crisis management, coverage analysis and the coordination of interests among insurers, reinsurers and other stakeholders. I am joining Santos Bevilaqua with the goal of strengthening the firm’s litigation, arbitration and specialized advisory capabilities while delivering legal certainty and strategic value to our clients,” said Alexandre Lima.
