Seyfarth Shaw LLP has further bolstered its Labor & Employment practice with Steven Moore, a nationally recognized L&E litigator, as a partner based in its San Francisco office.
Moore brings to Seyfarth a nationally recognized employment litigation practice, a substantial book of business, and deep experience with high stakes wage and hour class and collective actions. He has built a reputation as an accomplished trial lawyer with numerous high profile jury trial victories involving claims of discrimination and retaliation. He moves to Seyfarth from Fox Rothschild.
Moore is the fifth labor and employment partner to move to Seyfarth so far in 2026. Katherine Rosen (Seattle), Devin Smith (Seattle), Matthew Huntsman (Dallas), and Nicholas Turner (Sydney) preceded Moore in joining the pre-eminent employment law firm.
Moore represents employers in complex disputes, including discrimination, wage and hour, and large scale class and collective actions. He maintains a broad national practice and advises domestic and international companies across industries such as health care, transportation, media, energy, technology, hospitality, manufacturing, retail, and financial services.
A significant portion of Moore’s practice revolves around class actions and representative PAGA matters involving claims related to overtime, minimum wage, meal and rest periods, wage statements, final pay, and reimbursement issues.
“Steve Moore presents a compelling strategic fit for the San Francisco Labor & Employment team and the broader California bench and firm,” said Christian Rowley, co-managing partner of Seyfarth’s San Francisco office.
Rowley has collaborated closely with Moore on cases and class actions for clients in Colorado, where Moore also maintains a busy practice.
“We are increasingly seeing a lot of employment litigation in Colorado as it continues to enact employment laws that are modeled on those in California and Washington,” Rowley added. “Steve offers unique value as a Colorado litigation and class action resource. He is deeply knowledgeable about Colorado courts, judges, and the legal community, and someone whose proficiency materially strengthens our capabilities in that region.”
Moore often provides clients with advice and counsel concerning strategic planning and human resources issues, including executive terminations, wage and hour compliance and the development of personnel policies, employment contracts and noncompete agreements.
They rely on Moore, when issues arise at the executive level, to direct litigation against departing executives for violations of noncompete agreements and trade secret theft.
“Steve Moore’s skill set, market reputation, strong California and Colorado experience, and trial acumen make him an exceptional addition who materially elevates our team’s capabilities and reach,” said Laura Maechtlen, chair of Seyfarth’s national Labor & Employment department. “His significant and successful trial experience further enhances our department’s bench strength and expands our trial capabilities statewide. We view Steve as playing an important, strategic role in extending the reach of our Labor & Employment department and Wage and Hour practice.”
Moore regularly defends employers in systemic EEOC investigations arising from Commissioner’s Charges and other class based allegations. His practice mix is primarily split evenly between discrimination litigation and wage and hour litigation, with the balance focused on unfair competition, restrictive covenants, and trade secret matters.
“I was attracted to Seyfarth because its sophisticated Labor & Employment group offers the depth and resources necessary to support my national complex litigation practice,” said Moore. “My first-hand experience collaborating with Seyfarth lawyers made it an easy decision when the opportunity arose to move to the firm. I am genuinely excited about joining this outstanding group of lawyers to elevate my practice and to broaden Seyfarth’s capabilities.”
Moore has garnered extensive professional recognition throughout his career, including continuous rankings in Chambers USA for Labor & Employment in Colorado from 2010–2026. He has been consistently selected to “Best Lawyers in America” for Employment Law – Management (2014–2026) and Labor & Employment Litigation (2019–2024, 2026). He additionally is a Fellow of both the American Bar Foundation (since 2008) and the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers (since 2015).
Moore earned his JD from the University of Denver College of Law and his BA from Old Dominion University.
