Corporate Law, Mergers & Acquisitions:
François Deprez is a Partner. François joined Arendt & Medernach in 2003. He is a member of the Luxembourg Bar and was a member of the Brussels Bar (Belgium) until 2013. François was seconded to the New York office of Arendt & Medernach between December 2010 and June 2012, where he provided corporate advice to US clients in connection with the acquisition, disposal and restructuring of businesses and assets.
Corporate Law, Mergers & Acquisitions, Finance & Capital Markets
Philippe Harles is a Partner. He is involved in the lawyers’ community in Luxembourg and abroad. He was treasurer of the Luxembourg Young Bar Association (2014). He currently serves as an officer of the Young Lawyers’ Committee of the IBA. He is a lecturer in general company law at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and also a teaching assistant in general corporate law at the University of Luxembourg.
Finance & Capital Markets
Dominik Pauly is a Partner. Before joining Arendt & Medernach in 2020, Dominik worked as a finance lawyer at an international law firm in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) for several years. He is a member of the Luxembourg Bar and the Koblenz Bar (Germany). He is also a member of the Financing in Private Equity working group of the Luxembourg Private Equity Association.
Investment Management
Carl de La Chapelle is a Partner. Carl has been a member of the Paris Bar since 2012 and joined Arendt & Medernach in the same year. From 2013 to 2015 he served in the company’s New York office.
Fiona de Watazzi is a Partner. She is a member of the Luxembourg Bar and the New York Bar, and is admitted to the roll of solicitors of England and Wales. She is a member of several working groups of the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI), in particular with respect to performance fees and money market funds.
Piotr Giemza-Popowski is a Partner. He is a chairman of the EFAMA Benchmarks Task Force, which coordinates the European funds industry’s response to any European legislative initiatives in the area of benchmarks. He has been admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales since 2011, has been registered on List IV with the Luxembourg Bar since 2018 and has been a member of the Düsseldorf Bar (Germany) since 2019.
Michael Jonas is a Partner. Previously, he gained substantial experience with a magic circle firm in Brussels and in Luxembourg. Michael has been a member of the New York State Bar since 2004 and the Luxembourg Bar since 2007. He was a member of the Brussels Bar from 1998 to 2011.
Dr Stefan Staedter is a Partner. He has been a member of the Koblenz Bar (Germany) and the Luxembourg Bar since 2015. Prior to joining Arendt & Medernach, Stefan worked for several international law firms in Berlin, London and Luxembourg.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
Sandrine Margetidis-Sigwalt is a Partner. She has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar since 2006 and currently sits on the Civil Law Commission. Sandrine acts both in an advisory capacity and as counsel, having successfully represented her clients in various courts including the Supreme Court of Luxembourg (Cour de cassation) and the European Court of Human Rights.
Tax Law
Philipp Jost is a Partner. Before joining Arendt & Medernach, Philipp spent several years as a tax lawyer with an international law firm in Frankfurt, Germany. Philipp is a member of the Koblenz Bar (Germany) and the Luxembourg Bar. He is also a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), the Working Group of Tax Lawyers (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Fachanwälte für Steuerrecht e.V.) and the German Taxation Lawyers Association (DStJG).
