Acquinex, a specialist managing general agent focusing on providing bespoke Mergers & Acquisition (M&A) insurance products for small to mid-market deals across Europe, has made a new key hire. Dr Marco Niehaus has been appointed as the new managing director and Head of M&A DACH to re-build its M&A insurance business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Acquinex has been insuring transactions in Germany since the opening of its Frankfurt office in 2019 and is the market leader for SME, real estate and renewable transactions both in the DACH region and across the whole of Europe. Today the ambition is to significantly expand its DACH W&I team from historic levels through a combination of (i) accelerated headcount investment; (ii) market leading service and turnaround time; and (iii) recalibrating its DACH coverage and risk appetite in line with Acquinex’s other offices across Europe.
As a senior member of the M&A community in Frankfurt, Marco has more than 15 years of industry expertise. He joins the business following on from six years at major global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright LLP where he was an equity partner. Marco will be based in Frankfurt and joins Acquinex in the key position, leading a team of product specialists and steering Acquinex’s growth plans in the DACH region.
About Dr Marco Niehaus
Earlier in his career Marco was part of one of the leading domestic M&A private equity practices at German major law firm Gleiss Lutz. He later joined Allen & Overy at its Frankfurt office. During his roles at law firms Marco had a broadly recognized and frequently awarded key role in the DACH market to establish and further grow tailored legal advice at domestic as well as multi-jurisdictional warranty and indemnity (W&I) projects. He frequently speaks at conferences, in particular on the latest observations and new market developments.
