CMS advised Mubi on the deal.
Mubi, the world’s leading arthouse online streaming platform, film production and distribution company, based in London, New York and Los Angeles, is continuing its international expansion course.
In a transaction that received much attention in the international film industry, the company acquired European film distribution company The Match Factory and its film production arm, The Match Factory Productions. Further details and the purchase price were not disclosed.
Mubi, founded and managed by former Goldman Sachs banker Efe Cakarel, has developed into a leading global rights holder in independent film productions since 2007. In the meantime, the company – equipped with growth capital from numerous UK and US financial investors – has achieved a company valuation in the high three-digit million range.
Match Factory is a leading German film distribution and production company in the international arthouse film business. The two companies are to continue their operations unchanged with the current team and at the same time benefit from the networking with Mubi and its offices in London, New York and Los Angeles.
