Phoenix Pharmahandel’s Acquisition of McKesson’s Continental European Business

PHOENIX Pharmahandel GmbH & Co KG announced the acquisition of large parts of the Continental European business of US pharmaceutical distributor McKesson Corporation, Irving, Texas (McKesson).

The transaction covers business operations in Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, the Nether-lands, Lithuania and Monaco. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Closing of the transaction is subject to the customary regulatory clearances.

Germany’s largest pharmaceutical wholesaler, PHOENIX is the German subsidiary of PHOENIX Pharma SE, a leading healthcare provider in Europe. The group is part of the Merckle group of companies. In a total of 27 countries, PHOENIX supplies pharmacies, doctors and medical facilities with medicines and healthcare products through more than 161 distribution centres. PHOENIX also operates over 2,800 of its own pharmacies in 14 European countries with its pharmacy brands BENU, APOTEK 1, Rowlands Pharmacy and Help Net.

McKesson is a global leader in healthcare supply chain management solutions, retail pharmacy, community oncology and specialty care, and healthcare information solutions. McKesson Europe, headquartered in Stuttgart, is part of the McKesson Group and operates in Europe with around 38,000 employees.
