O’Melveny announced several new leadership appointments that showcase the talent and depth of the firm’s partnership. Partners have stepped into new roles as vice chair, leaders of practice and industry groups, and managing partners for firm offices, among other appointments.

Matthew W. Close has been named a vice chair of the firm, succeeding Mark Samuels. Close’s previous leadership experience includes serving as co-chair of the firm’s Securities Litigation and Financial Services Practice Group and as a member of the firm’s Policy Committee.
“I cannot thank Mark enough for his immeasurable contributions to our firm over his long and distinguished career. And I’m confident that Matt will serve with distinction as he picks up the baton from Mark and steps into the role of vice chair,” Butwin noted. “With his client-centric ethos and a deep commitment to O’Melveny’s values, Matt is among the most acclaimed and respected lawyers in his field and a worthy steward of this vital position.”
Along with serving as a vice chair of the firm, Close will also join O’Melveny’s Management Team, as will partners Allen Burton, Jeeho Lee, and Jeff Walbridge.
