Fieldfisher Launches in Portugal with Offices in Lisbon and Porto

European law firm Fieldfisher announces the launch of Fieldfisher Portugal with offices in Lisbon and Porto, on 1 July 2025.

Fieldfisher Portugal will initially comprise two Partners, four Directors, 45 lawyers and 17 business services team members, with a total headcount of 68 people. The team joins Fieldfisher from André Miranda Associados (AMA), and is led by Country Managing Partners André Miranda?and?João André Antunes, who have a strong track record of successfully building their business in the local market and a wealth of experience working internationally.

Fieldfisher Portugal will offer comprehensive legal services across corporate and M&A, litigation and arbitration, real estate, public and regulatory law, tax, banking and finance and private client services. The team brings with it a strong roster of existing cross-sector and cross-practice clients.

Following recent office openings in Poland, Austria and Italy, Portugal represents a strategically important addition to Fieldfisher’s European network. The country offers significant growth opportunities in three of the firm’s key sectors: technology, financial institutions and energy. Supported by government-backed incentives, EU recovery funding and a robust talent pool, Portugal is rapidly emerging as a hub for digital innovation, tech companies, sustainable infrastructure and green energy. Additionally, Lisbon and Porto are gaining prominence as testbeds for fintech, health tech, cleantech and smart city solutions, while the services sector – spanning finance, telecommunications, tourism and creative industries –  accounts for nearly 80% of the country’s GDP. This dynamic environment makes Portugal an increasingly attractive destination for international investment and cross-sector innovation.

The move to Portugal also strengthens Fieldfisher’s presence across the Iberian Peninsula, building on synergies with the firm’s well-established Spanish operations. The integration of the Portuguese team will allow Fieldfisher to offer a seamless cross-border service to clients operating in both markets.

Fieldfisher’s Managing Partner Robert Shooter?said:  “We are thrilled to welcome Fieldfisher Portugal to our international network. Portugal’s dynamic economy, commitment to innovation and openness to foreign investment make it a natural fit for our growth strategy.

“The team joining Fieldfisher has a proven track record and their entrepreneurial mindset, cultural alignment with Fieldfisher, and ambition for growth, makes them an ideal fit for the firm’s international platform.

“André, João and their team bring a wealth of experience and ambition, and we are excited to support them in delivering exceptional service to clients across the Iberian Peninsula and beyond.”

André Miranda, joint Country Managing Partner of Fieldfisher Portugal, said:  “Joining Fieldfisher marks a pivotal moment for our team. We are proud of what we’ve built and are excited to take the next step with the support of an international platform. This move allows us to offer our clients broader capabilities and global reach.”

João André Antunes, joint Country Managing Partner of Fieldfisher Portugal, added: “We see tremendous opportunity in aligning with Fieldfisher’s values and vision. Our clients will benefit from enhanced services, and our team is energised by the opportunity to grow and innovate within a leading European law firm.”

The launch of Fieldfisher Portugal is part of the firm’s strategy to strengthen its presence in key European jurisdictions. Following recent expansions into Austria, Italy and Poland, Fieldfisher now operates 27 offices across 14 countries, reinforcing its position as one of Europe’s most dynamic and fast-growing law firms in the region.
